For generations, the Perkins family has cared for this land as a working ranch. A YES vote helps keep it that way, preserving open space instead of pushing the property toward more intensive development.
The airfield was designed around the land, not over it. It uses open pasture with little vegetation disturbance, preserves natural drainage and riparian areas, and maintains room for pronghorn to move across the ranch.
Only the immediate runway area will be fenced for aircraft and wildlife safety. The broader ranch will remain open and permeable for pronghorn movement. The project also includes dark-sky lighting, underground utilities, careful storm water controls and no PFAS firefighting foam. The Town of Chino Valley and Perkins Ranch worked with environmental specialists and local & state agencies to ensure the land continues to be sustainable as it has since time immemorial.
Arizona’s statewide pronghorn plan identifies habitat loss and fragmentation from expanding development as a central conservation concern. Keeping large landscapes intact and preserving movement corridors are important parts of protecting local herds.
